Our Board

Symon Stanley

President

I  have been singing most my life in many different ways from choirs to solo to musical theater. I had a couple of patients tell me about the choir, perhaps because I tend to sing while I work. I love Summit County and the people who live here. It is truly a privilege to be involved as much as possible.

I joined SCS to meet new people with a love for music performance in the local community.  We did not have choirs at school so my first experience of singing was at our church theatrical productions and worship team.  I find singing very uplifting and helps me keep a healthy mindset.   Learning from a friend who was a member of SCS, I was eager to join and have been so happy to have made this decision.  Awesome group, new friends and a wonderful outreach to the local community.

I love the weekly rehearsals, the community of singers; performances are a bonus. It is important that each member do what they can to ensure the Choir’s future.

My passion for music and the outdoors creates such a wonderful balance in my life. The harmonies created by all the voices in a choir can be magical. I have been involved with the Summit Choral Society off and on since it’s early years in the 1980’s. As the organization continues to grow, my hope is to embrace new ideas, welcome new members, and to create an atmosphere of inclusiveness.”

I have sung in either a school or church choir since grade school. However, I am not an accomplished singer…. but, I love music… When I attended a Summit Choral Society concert a few years ago, heard their wonderful sound and learned they were a non-auditioned choir, I thought “WOW, I want to be part of that!”

Loves to sing and dance.  Has been in a bunch of musicals but needs to have singing on my weekly calendar, not just for special events.   Honored to be part of the board.
